    The Gentleman Sportscaster

In this day of sportscasting cynicism, sarcasm, ungentlemanly rudeness and obnoxious shouting, I would toss all the Jim Romes, Kenny Maines, James Washingtons and Best Damn Sports Show Period fools into the garbage can in favor of listening to the intelligent, insightful, civil and thought provoking commentary of the great Jim McKay. The world of sports will miss his dignity and enthusiasm. Godspeed Jim.

Great Times in Sports with Jim McKay

It was a wonderful time to have a wonderful sports broadcaster. Just reel off the names that he brought to us; Muhammad Ali, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Mark Spitz and all of the other great Olympians both winter and summer. For me, most of all, the great drivers who participated in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, The Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Wide World of Sports, well it didn't get any better than that each weekend. Thanks Jim McKay and let's not forget Roone Arledge who brought him to ABC.
