re: What Indy Means to me?

Steve, ditto on everything you said.  Perhaps it is premature but my brother and I are going to have our ashes spread through the inside of turn 1.  You either get that place in your blood real bad or you could care less.  I can feel that joint in my blood when I get within 10 miles of the place.  I also recall those old offys from the early 70s.  I can still clearly hear/see Gordon Johncock blowing his engine on the main straight in 1977 and handing Foyt his fourth win.  Ole Gordy had em all beat that day with that wildcat.  To this day I often wonder if it was Gordy's driving or was it Bignotti's mechanical genius that allowed that 4 cylindered engine to lay waste to all the Cosworths and Foyts.  Just one of those Indy legends that remain to our imagination.  Perhaps it was both.
