Today the United States honored it's oldest WWl warrior in Kansas City. WWll veterans and their stories are giving way to time - the ultimate victor in life's battles. Men and women today are protecting me and my family at the risk of incredible personal jeopardy. When this race started I had two requests. Keep all these daring athletes safe and let Danica Patrick win. Thankfully the first was accomplished. Racing is a game, a sport, played with all bets on the line no doubt. But the snot nosed tantrum on pit row by Danica is telling about what we say is important. The driver and the media should take a step back. We have young people in harms way. And, when the day is done, I will look at Old Glory and remember those that made a real difference. I did not personally know them either but, they probably did not give their full last measure for insignificance such as this. Sports icons are an entitled group. Should we be angry with them for their emotion or angry at ourselves for allowing them to think they really matter when the day is done? Thank you to the men and women in service who really go full throttle. |
